Hey, I tracked my family finances in Excel for years, but eventually got tired of manually typing everything into spreadsheets. There are plenty of commercial apps out there, but I preferred taking on the challenge and building something tailored to my own needs. I built a basic web app called OwlyPowly ( https://owlypowly.com ) to simplify things for myself. It’s an ad-free tracker built with FastAPI, SQLite, and Docker. A couple of features that helped me move away from Excel are basic OCR so I can just upload a receipt photo instead of manual entry, and email forwarding so receipts from online shopping go straight into the app. If it happens to be useful to anyone else, that's great. It's in beta and free to use. There's also a "buy me a coffee" option if someone feels like supporting it.
