Is Walt Disney World Resort planning to bring the Haunted Mansion Holiday overlay to Magic Kingdom Park? The temporary retheme inspired by Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas (1993) takes over the iconic attraction at Disneyland Park in Southern California and Tokyo Disneyland in Japan every year, but Walt Disney Imagineering has never brought it to Central Florida.Could that change? Why Doesn’t Disney World Do The Haunted Mansion Holiday?Credit: DisneyOf course, Walt Disney World Resort has never officially said why there isn’t a Haunted Mansion Holiday at Magic Kingdom Park during the Halloween and Christmas seasons. However, there are a few key reasons Walt Disney Imagineering might not have considered it a good idea to bring The Nightmare Before Christmas to the Liberty Square attraction.First, Disneyland Park is known as more of a “locals” park. With just a handful of onsite hotels and two theme parks compared to dozens of Walt Disney World Resort hotels and four Central Florida Disney parks, Disneyland Resort sees fewer visitors every year than its East Coast counterpart. Taking a popular attraction offline for a few weeks in August and January to remove the seasonal overlay is less impactful at Disneyland Park than it would be at the Magic Kingdom.Credit: DisneyWalt Disney World Resort is also more of a once-in-a-lifetime vacation that draws guests from around the world. Some families may be disappointed if they save for a Central Florida Disney Parks vacation for years and arrive at the Magic Kingdom only to find that one of the park’s most historic and storied attractions is decked out with Jack Skellington and Oogie Boogie for a limited time.Still, Walt Disney World Resort has never explicitly stated that it wouldn’t bring Haunted Mansion Holiday to Magic Kingdom Park, and a recent video from Walt Disney Imagineers suggests that the idea has crossed their minds.A Nightmare Before Christmas Easter Egg at Magic Kingdom ParkCredit: Michael Gray, FlickrIt’s been 25 years since Sandy Claws and his friends first hijacked the Haunted Mansion at Disneyland Park. At Walt Disney World Resort, though, the only traces of The Nightmare Before Christmas are in the library of the Liberty Square attraction.@waltdisneyimagineering recently shared a close-up look at the two Easter eggs inspired by the Tim Burton film on Instagram:Did you know you can find a reference to Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas in Walt Disney World’s Haunted Mansion?
