Demba Ba has left his role as Le Harve’s sporting director just a few months after his arrival at the Ligue 1 club. But Ba isn’t the only departure as the club as they languish at the bottom of the French top flight.Ba played the best football of his career at NewcastleGettyThe club’s American owners, the Blue Crow Sports Group have removed Ba, and the head coach Didier Digard has also been sacked. That decision led to the president Jean-Michel Roussier handing in his notice. And Ba has followed suit, according to a report in L’Equipe, deciding to leave Le Harve as the club descends into chaos. The former Senegal striker grew up in Le Harve and was very excited to work with the club.Speaking after his appointment in the summer, he said: “The room for improvement at clubs is enormous.“I think they are only operating at 50 per cent of their potential because, if you do not win, you are out. Everything is immediate. But to win, you have to build. It is a paradox.“It is a pleasure to be here, where my older brother and some of my other brothers still live. But I genuinely believe this club can be much higher. What motivates me is helping it reach its full potential.“We are talking about the oldest club in French football. “Its academy was among the best in the country. It is still not bad, despite the terrible pitches. You cannot develop players on those.”Ba brought a few people with him from his former club Dunkerque, but it’s unclear if they’ve left Le Harve as well. And there is no wonder that he’s left now that the president and manager have gone, given just how highly he spoke of them.Ba had a few classic moments for Chelsea as well with goals against Paris Saint-Germain and Liverpool the highlights“The president convinced me,” Ba said. “He spoke honestly and has no filter. I love that because it saves me time. Without Didier, I do not know whether I would have come. I see him in a similar way: honest, direct and competent.”After a great career as a striker with spells at West Ham, Newcastle United and Chelsea in the Premier League, Ba has switched to being involved in player recruitment.Ba’s new careerBa had been hoping things would turn out very differently at Le Harve but that is unlikely to stop him continuing to pursue this career.Speaking in detail about the role in that same interview, he said: “My phone is always on.“It is possible that I will make a call at two in the morning. The people working with me also sleep three hours. We need to be capable of putting in the hours.”Ba scored goals for every team he played for in the Premier League and was able to produce all types of finishesHe had a reported budget of around €2 million at Le Harve, and despite being bottom of the table, it looked like he was willing to stick it out.Ba’s Premier League careerBa joined West Ham in January 2011 from Hoffenheim for a limited fee.He scored seven goals in 12 games for the Hammers as they were relegated from the top-flight.He had a clause in his contract that allowed him to leave for free if relegated, and after failing a medical at Stoke City, Newcastle swooped in.Fans weren’t expecting too much, but he scored 16 goals in the first year on Tyneside as Alan Pardew’s side defied all odds to qualify for the Europa League and finish fifth.Ba was a massive part of that in the first half of the season before his fellow Senegalese forward Papiss Demba Cisse arrived and Ba moved out to the left to accommodate him.He didn’t score too many in the second half of the campaign but played his part in one of the best front threes in the league. The following year, he played back upfront and scored 13 goals before a release clause was revealed that Chelsea activated. He didn’t play much for Chelsea, but there were two huge goals. The first one at Anfield in the Premier League followed that infamous Steven Gerrard slip before a decisive goal in the Champions League against Paris Saint-Germain.
