Hi r/SideProject – this is Free to Race, a hobby project I've been building for the last three weeks. It's a live timing dashboard for Formula 1 sessions: - track map with every car, live (positions are estimated from the official mini-sector timing, since the free feed doesn't send GPS positions) - gaps, sectors, tyres and pit stops - strategy view: tyre stints, pit windows, who can make it to the end - lap-by-lap comparison of any two drivers - replays and results of past sessions in the browser How it works: the Windows app and the phone web app connect directly to the public F1 live timing feed from your own device. No account, no server in between, no ads. Today's Mexico City GP starts at 20:00 UTC, so it's a good day to try it live: https://free-to-race.com The video is a replay of last year's Mexico race running in the browser (map data © OpenStreetMap contributors). Unofficial fan project, not affiliated with Formula 1. Feedback very welcome – especially anything confusing the first time you open it. submitted by /u/Nik88nk [link] [comments]
