I built a proximity social app as a web app instead of native here’s why, and what broke

Wait 5 sec.

I'm a solo dev in South Jersey. The big proximity apps bury people under ads and paywalls, so I built my own: hole-eaters for guys, trans and nonbinary folks. Decisions I'd love feedback on: - No App Store. It's a web app you add to your home screen. No review delays, no 30% cut, fixes ship same day. Tradeoff: no native push yet. - Your socials, your rules. Link up to 17 platforms and choose who sees each one. - One area first. Philly / South Jersey only, because a proximity app with an empty map is dead on arrival. Stack: React + Supabase on Vercel. Biggest open problem: cold start. How would you get the first 500 users in one metro? Link in the comments. Brutal feedback welcome. submitted by /u/Affectionate-Ad-8158 [link] [comments]
