Saquon Barkley will not be moving at the trade deadline. According to ESPN, the Philadelphia Eagles have slammed shut a potential move for their star running back ahead of the November 10 trade deadline. Eagles star Saquon Barkley is not available for trade at the deadlineGettyThis comes amid interest from many teams around the NFL, including the Houston Texans, who have already been active on the market after striking a deal to acquire former No. 4 overall pick Marvin Harrison Jr. The cost of reuniting the wide receiver with quarterback C.J. Stroud, with the two having played college football together as members of the Ohio State Buckeyes, was hefty as the Texans had to part ways with a 2027 second-round pick and a sixth-rounder. Despite Stroud’s bounce-back year, Houston lack strength in their rushing game with Woody Marks and David Montgomery combining for just 409 rushing yards and four touchdowns through seven games of the 2026 regular season. Acquiring a player of Barkley’s caliber would certainly boost the Texans’ chances at rallying back and competing for the AFC South title, where they currently sit third with a 2-5 record. The 2024 Offensive Player of the Year – who has made $96.7 million in earnings so far in his career – would have also brought Super Bowl-winning pedigree to a relatively young squad under head coach DeMeco Ryans. But with the injury-laden and significantly depleted Eagles slamming the door on a potential trade, the Texans front office could be pivoting elsewhere. Texans could look to join race for Colts star Jonathan TaylorThis could even see them join the ever-growing list of teams in pursuit of All-Pro running back Jonathan Taylor. The Indianapolis Colts star has been the subject of trade rumors even before long-serving general manager Chris Ballard was fired in the aftermath of their Week 6 defeat to the then-winless Tennessee Titans. Since then, they have undergone a fire sale, trading All-Pro guard Quenton Nelson to the defending Super Bowl champions Seattle Seahawks, before sending star defensive tackle DeForest Buckner packing back to the San Francisco 49ers just hours later. But Taylor remains their biggest available asset. C.J. Stroud is missing an RB1-caliber player in the backfield as the Texans seek to turn their season aroundgettyThe Texans could join the race to land Colts star RB Taylor, though it is unlikely that they will consider dealing their prized asset to a division rivalGettyIn seven seasons, including 2026, for the Colts, the 27-year-old has eclipsed the 1,000-plus rushing yards in a season mark on four occasions, and has 8,185 career rushing yards and 77 touchdowns to his name. He also has an additional 1,647 receiving yards and seven touchdowns. Entering Sunday’s Week 8 divisional clash against the Jacksonville Jaguars, Taylor looks ‘more likely than not’ to be on a different team after November 10, per NFL insider Jordan Schultz. As it stands, the undefeated Minnesota Vikings, Denver Broncos, Green Bay Packers and New York Giants are in the mix and have made enquiries, though the Colts’ current asking price is believed to be too high right now. The Cincinnati Bengals have also reportedly entered the mix in recent days, whilst the Seahawks are still searching for their Kenneth Walker III replacement after letting the Super Bowl LIX MVP walk away to the Kansas City Chiefs for nothing in free agency. This asking price could yet be lowered before the deadline, especially if Taylor’s wife Ayanna continues to publicly lobby for her husband to get a move. One thing that seems a given is that Taylor will be suiting up in different colors and that is only just a matter of time. However, it seems very unlikely that the Colts would help out a division rival in the Texans, unless, of course, they are able to put together a package that is simply too good to refuse.
