Black Stars: We have the quality to beat Somalia – Frimpong Manso

Wait 5 sec.

Former Ghana international Stephen Frimpong Manso believes the Black Stars should find it easy to beat Somalia in their upcoming 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers. Ghana is searching for a first win as far as the qualifiers are concerned after back-to-back defeats to Cote d’Ivoire and Gambia, losing the latter at home. The four-time AFCON champions face Somalia in a doubleheader in the next international break, knowing wins in both games will get them back on track for a return to the continental tournament. Despite the recent resurgence of African countries in the sport, Frimpong Manso is optimistic Ghana’s quality will be good enough to get them over the line against Somalia. “The fact that we are calling for domestic players to play doesn’t mean Somalia is not a good side. Football today has seen a lot of development; several teams get the opportunity to qualify for tournaments, and the number of teams has also been increased, as well as the regional tournaments, which are giving these countries exposure,” he told Sporty FM.“But comparatively, when we are talking about football, we don’t have to struggle to win against Somalia. I think we should be able to win at home no matter the players we parade. “Somalia are coming up, but if our players give off their best, Somalia cannot stand against us.”The two games are scheduled for November 12 and 16, respectively.
