Built an open-source async standup app you can self-host (Docker, AGPL-3.0)

Wait 5 sec.

Our team's standups kept landing at a bad hour for someone, so I built a self-hosted tool to skip the live call entirely. How it works: Each person records a ~2-minute video/audio update when their day starts (or types it). The audio is transcribed, and an LLM extracts Yesterday / Today / Blockers. It remembers your previous update, ticks off completed tasks, and tags mentioned teammates. The team reads or watches the check-ins asynchronously in their own morning. Self-Hosting & Tech Stack: Single docker-compose setup: Postgres, MinIO (video/audio storage), Node/App engine, lightweight scheduler for reminders, Caddy for HTTPS, and automated daily DB backups. AGPL-3.0 License — All features unlocked out of the box, zero telemetry, no license keys, no limits. Current Caveats (v0.1): Auth: Magic links currently route through Resend (or Google OAuth). Plain SMTP is not implemented yet. AI Provider: Uses Groq (Whisper + Llama) for transcription and drafting. Without an API key, video uploads still work and team members type check-ins manually. Local Whisper is on the roadmap (the provider is interface-driven). Privacy & Architecture: Media files upload directly from the browser into your MinIO bucket (bypassing the app server). Transcripts and summaries are encrypted at rest in Postgres. Full Disclosure: A significant chunk of the codebase was generated with Claude Code (visible in the Git history). I review, test, and run everything myself, but I prefer full transparency. GitHub:https://github.com/codeaz-org/asincly Setup Guide: docs/DEPLOYMENT.md inside the repo (includes a hosted demo link if you just want to test the UI). A question for team leads & devs: Would your team actually record quick 2-minute videos, or would everyone inevitably default to typing? That’s the core assumption I’m looking to validate. submitted by /u/PawLawArt [link] [comments]
