I built an interactive open-source project to help understand what actually happens inside the JVM

Wait 5 sec.

I’ve been working on a project called JVM Atlas. The idea came from something I’ve experienced while learning JVM internals: reading about Heap, Stack, Class Loading, JIT and Garbage Collection is one thing. Understanding how they all work together is another. So I tried building a more interactive way to explore them. With JVM Atlas, you can: \- Explore JVM architecture through interactive 2D and 3D views. \- Inspect 66 components and their relationships. \- Learn concepts at Simple, Developer and Deep Dive levels. \- Follow a Java program from source code to the processor. \- Explore guided walkthroughs of JVM execution. **Transparency:** I built this project with AI assistance. The goal was to use AI to create a better way to understand JVM internals, not just another definitions or documentation website. The technical content references Java specifications and OpenJDK sources. It’s free, open source and available under the MIT License. Website: https://jvmatlas.vercel.app GitHub: https://github.com/yakshjethva/jvm-inside-out I’d appreciate honest feedback. What would make this more useful for someone learning JVM internals? Is there a concept you’d particularly like to see explained interactively? submitted by /u/SweatTechRift [link] [comments]
