West Ham United’s decision to sack Nuno Espirito Santo has been questioned with the club inside the Championship play-off spots. The Hammers parted ways with their manager on Tuesday following successive Championship defeats.West Ham have been warned over their decision to bring in Scott ParkerGettyThose losses to Southampton and West Brom have seen the club drop out of the automatic promotion places and down to eighth.Scott Parker is now set to succeed Nuno in the dugout, talkSPORT understands. The former West Ham midfielder has agreed terms to return to the club, having left Burnley back in April.Other Championship clubs have also shown an interest in Parker already this season. The 46-year-old has won promotion to the Premier League in each of his three seasons as a manager in the second-tier.His spells in charge of Fulham, Bournemouth and Burnley all saw Parker clinch a top two finish in the Championship. However, Simon Jordan has issued a warning to the Hammers hierarchy over their decision to change managers.Highlighting the club’s current league position on White & Jordan, the talkSPORT co-host explained: “They’re eighth in the league.“They’re six points off top spot which is not a catastrophe. It’s not ideal for many sides, I mean how did Ipswich go last year?“How did Ipswich go when they got relegated? Were they setting the world alight when they first got down to the Championship? I don’t think they were. I think they were midtable for significant parts of the season.Nuno has been sacked by the Hammers after back-to-back defeatsGetty“They’ve made a decision. Scott Parker has proven to be someone that’s capable of getting teams out of the Championship. He’s also proven to be someone that can’t keep teams in the Premier League.“The aim clearly for West Ham is to make decisions to get themselves back out of the Championship as quickly as they possibly could because of the economics of it.”Ipswich Town were promoted back to the Premier League last term as runners-up behind Coventry City. After 13 matches of the season, though, Kieran McKenna’s side sat 10th in the table with just five wins to their name.Jordan continued: “Scott Parker obviously played for West Ham. He will have a regard for the club, the club will have a regard for him.“He will do a job, whether it’s right to have let Nuno Espirito Santo go (or not). I haven’t watched West Ham enough this season to know whether they’re playing good football or not.Parker was a three-time Hammer of the Year during his time as a West Ham playerGetty“But to be six points off top spot 13 games into a season doesn’t feel like a crisis that would dictate the necessity to fire a manager, but that’s what they’ve done.”Parker made 129 appearances during a four-year spell with West Ham as a player and was named Hammer of the Year on three occasions.Harry Redknapp slams Hammers’ recruitmentHis appointment has been given the approval of his former manager Harry Redknapp.Parker was signed from the Hammers by Redknapp’s Tottenham Hotspur in 2011.Whilst the ex-West Ham boss believes he is a great fit for the club, he has taken aim at their recent recruitment.Redknapp believes the current squad is the worst the club have had for 65 years.Redknapp has labelled the current Hammers squad their worst for 65 yearsGettyHe told talkSPORT Breakfast: “Scott’s got a great record in the Championship having taken teams up, he knows the club, he was a very good player. I took him from West Ham to Tottenham.“He was a very, very good player and a very astute manager, I think. So I think it’s a great fit for West Ham.“I think the first thing he needs to do, though, I’ve been looking at this West Ham team recently and I went to the club at 14, I joined West Ham and I looked back all those years.“I think this would probably be the worst group of players I’ve seen at West Ham in that time.“So he hasn’t got an easy job on his hands. Take (Jarrod) Bowen apart, the rest of the squad there are very few players there that would have got in too many West Ham teams over the years.“It’s not going to be easy for him, but they’ve got great support. It’s a big club that unfortunately needs a big lift now and hopefully Scott can go in and give them that lift they need.”West Ham have confirmed Mark Noble, Steve Potts and Gerard Prendeville will take interim charge of Tuesday’s trip to Cardiff City.It means Parker’s first match as manager could be away at Blackburn Rovers on Saturday afternoon.
