My girlfriend needed to learn React for her job, and the usual study material wasn't working for her. Long videos, pausing every minute to retype code, getting lost when something broke. So I started building her something more fun to learn with. React Tutor is a desktop app with 142 short lessons, from "what's a variable" to React Router. The code types itself into a real editor with a live preview while a voice explains each line. She can pause anytime and edit the code herself. Every lesson has a practice exercise, and errors get explained in plain English instead of scary red text. Some bits she ended up liking most: - The narration and speech-to-text run locally (Kitten TTS + Whisper), so it works offline - She could ask it to "explain that again, slower" mid-lesson It's free for Windows and Linux. I figured other beginners might find it useful too. Site: https://shambac.github.io/ReactTutor/ Code: https://github.com/ShambaC/ReactTutor First release, so any feedback is welcome!
