Reps - a year and a half, 7,000+ commits, building the one health app that actually uses all your data. Here's what happened

Wait 5 sec.

Hey [r/SideProject](r/SideProject)! About a year and a half ago I got annoyed that to actually understand my own health I needed like 4 different apps. One for sleep, one for food, one for workouts, something else for caffeine, and my Apple Watch collecting a ton of data in the background that none of them really used together. And a real coach that could look at all of it costs $200-500/month. So I started building one. Recent grad, brutal job market, lots of free time lol. 1.0 hit the App Store on October 10, 2025 and 2.0 just went out. The whole idea in one line: one app that has all the context. Your sleep, HRV, heart rate, workouts, what you ate, how much coffee you had and when. And a coach named REX that can actually use all of it together, instead of each app only seeing its own little slice. Why that matters Every app I tried was good at its one thing and blind to everything else. Your sleep app doesn't know you had 3 coffees at 4pm. Your food app doesn't know you're running in an hour. Your workout app doesn't know you slept 5 hours. The interesting stuff is always in how those connect, and nothing was connecting them. So with Reps, if you logged a big bowl of pasta at lunch and then ask REX for a workout, you don't have to mention the pasta. It already knows, along with your sleep, caffeine, heart rate and training, and plans around all of it with your actual numbers, not generic advice. Savage mode is still there and will still roast you for skipping leg day. People love it or hate it, there's no in between lol. What's in it now Food. Snap a photo or scan a barcode and it logs the meal. Because it knows your other meals too, if you're eating leftovers it'll often know what that bowl is. Coffee. I got kind of obsessed with this one. Reps tracks how your caffeine wears off and tells you when your last coffee should be so it doesn't wreck your sleep. It doesn't pretend coffee refills your energy, it just hides how tired you are for a while. Sleep and recovery. Sleep stages, HRV, resting heart rate, all read from your Watch and compared against your own normal, not some average person's. Workouts. Today's session is ready when you open the tab, with what you lifted last time and your best on every exercise. Outdoor runs and walks with a live map. Privacy, since someone always asks. The health scores are worked out on your phone. The AI stuff does send your health context to the cloud: Apple's Private Cloud for the heavy things, and Google through my backend for chat and plans. You can lock everything except food photos to Apple-only in Settings. What I learned User feedback drives everything. Almost every feature came from someone telling me what was missing or broken, a lot of them from Reddit. Shipping solo is rough but you learn fast. No one to debate architecture with at 2am, no one to bounce ideas off of at 4am (yes some days have been crazy... I love building this app lol). I've broken the app more times than I can count and fixed it just as fast. I'm not an expert and still fairly new to iOS development, but it's fun so who cares! Being honest about the numbers This isn't some massive success story. It's a solo indie app in one of the most competitive categories on the App Store and growth has been slow and steady. It's also definitely not done, there's a lot I still want it to do better. But the people who use it tend to stick around and the feedback keeps getting more specific, which tells me the core idea works. Try it out If you've ever been annoyed juggling a bunch of health apps, I'd genuinely love for you to try it and tell me what's broken or missing. App Store: https://apps.apple.com/app/reps-ai-health-coach-hrv/id6746460451 I read every single piece of feedback, whether it's a Reddit comment, an App Store review or a message. Curious: how many apps are you using right now to keep track of your health? Thanks for reading! submitted by /u/sidbmw1 [link] [comments]
