My “dream job” is a nightmare, I’m completely lost

Wait 5 sec.

I recently landed a job on my dream unit at the hospital. This unit is fairly competitive to get into and it’s what I’ve always wanted to do. I’m so passionate about these patients. After I got off orientation I quickly realized this unit is my own personal hell. Between the bully Doctors, cliquey/unsupportive Nurses and high stakes I’m finding it impossible to be happy here. I will add, not all my colleagues are bad but it’s too many to ignore. And not all my shifts land in emergencies but it’s enough to make me uncomfortable and in a continuous state of fight or flight. This place has DESTROYED my self confidence and given me horrible imposter syndrome. I know I’m not incompetent and I am a good nurse but it does not feel that way anymore. I am planning my escape and just want to know where you all have found your niche? Clearly this is not the specialty for me and that’s okay but I thought it would be my end all be all so I’m feeling extremely lost. Would appreciate any insight on jobs that maybe are on the softer or predictable side. I’ve been looking into: hospice, preop/PACU, case management, home health etc. I know Nursing can be an exhausting profession no matter where you go but there’s no way I can keep on like this. submitted by /u/Effective-Tell5179 [link] [comments]
