I'm an SDE at Amazon, and my experience with my manager and work environment had become increasingly toxic. It started affecting my health, my ability to perform at work, and my personal life. Eventually, I decided to take FMLA to give myself some time to recover and look for other opportunities. Fortunately, I received an offer from another company last month, and my H-1B transfer to the new employer was completed last week. My FMLA is ending soon, but I still have approximately five weeks before my joining date at the new company. I'm trying to figure out the best way to handle my resignation from Amazon. Here are the options I'm considering: 1. Return to work and resign: Go back after my FMLA ends, work for a day or two, and then submit my two weeks' notice. 2. Resign remotely: Once my FMLA ends, submit my resignation via email without returning to work and, if possible, use my remaining accrued PTO to cover the notice period. Given the circumstances, I'd prefer not to return to an environment that was negatively affecting my health unless absolutely necessary. Has anyone been in a similar situation, particularly at Amazon? What would be the best approach here, considering both company policies and H-1B implications? Would really appreciate any advice or personal experiences. Thanks! submitted by /u/Tiny-Mall6793 to r/amazonemployees [link] [comments]
