The picture example is a list of some pro leagues that have high scoring and some pro leagues that have low scoring. There are many pro league that fit the description but are not included. Hypothesis: Coaching styles can explain why some leagues have high scoring and some leagues have low scoring. There are 3 types of coaches: Attacking-minded coaches: mostly play attacking football Defensive-minded coaches: mostly play defensive football Pragmatic-minded coaches: play attacking football in certain situations during a match and versus certain opponents and play defensive football in certain situations during a match and versus certain opponents In high scoring leagues like Netherlands Eredivisie and Germany Bundesliga, there are a lot more attacking-minded coaches. In low scoring leagues like Argentina Primera Division, there are a lot more defensive-minded coaches. If all the coaches of Argentina Primera Division are replaced with coaches from the Netherlands Eredivisie and vice versa, Argentina Primera Division will be a high scoring league and Netherlands Erevisidie will be a low scoring league because players mostly play/train how the coaches want them to play/train.
