WTI's breakout fails: back under 100 after a 104.99 highWTI CRUDE OILTVC:USOILForexupgoLast week WTI broke out of its late-October range and on Friday it printed 104.99, a one-month high. Today the move unwound: crude dropped more than 3% from the open and is trading just under 100, back inside the old range. What the daily chart shows: • The late-October range ran from roughly 99.4 to 103.9. Friday's high at 104.99 was the only real push above it. • Today's candle opened at 102.4 and sold off to the 99.5 area. That puts price back inside the range and under the round number of 100. • Trend-wise it is not broken: the 20-day MA (~97.3) and the 50-day MA (~94.4) are both still rising below price. What I'm watching: 1) A quick reclaim of 100 and a close back above ~102 would turn today into a shakeout, and the breakout story would be alive again. 2) Daily closes under 99.4 would mean the breakout failed. The 20-day MA near 97 is then the first support, and the 50-day near 94 after that. Failed breakouts often travel to the other side of the range. No position, just the map. Not financial advice.
