Every morning went the same way: alarm goes off, I grab my phone, and suddenly it's an hour later and I'm still in bed scrolling. So I built a fix for myself, and it actually worked. There's an NFC sticker on my bathroom wall. At night, I start a Focus session that blocks my distracting apps (Instagram, YouTube, Reddit, you know the ones). In the morning, my alarm rings and the only way to stop it for good is to get up and tap my phone on that sticker. That same tap unlocks my apps. So there's no "just five minutes" in bed anymore. If I want to scroll, I have to be standing in the bathroom first, and by then I'm awake. The app is called Tagdawn. A few things I cared about while building it: • It's a real alarm. It uses Apple's AlarmKit, so it rings through Silent mode • It's hard to cheat. You can require multiple taps or tags in different rooms, and it keeps ringing until you scan • App blocking is built in. It uses Apple's Screen Time, so blocked apps stay locked until you scan the tag • It's a one-time purchase. No subscription, no ads, no account. I don't think a tool like this should cost you every month forever • Your data stays on your phone. Nothing goes to the cloud The stickers cost about €0.30 each on Amazon, so there's no special hardware to buy. It's iPhone only (iOS 26+): https://apps.apple.com/app/id6789881312 More info: https://tagdawn.app I'm a solo dev, so I'd love honest feedback. What would make this work better for your mornings? submitted by /u/kiinjast [link] [comments]
