I built an Apple Music app for people who like to curate one big playlist.

Wait 5 sec.

I’ve listened to music pretty much the same way since streaming became a thing. I have one big playlist called Overplay. It’s been with me since the start and contains every song I don’t mind hearing over and over. Songs get promoted to it when they catch my attention and retired when I find myself repeatedly skipping them. I also have an Inbox playlist where new discoveries land. Songs from Shazam, TikTok, other playlists, wherever. Anything that catches my ear goes into Inbox, and the ones I really like get promoted to Overplay. In theory. In practice, I mostly listen to music in the car or on headphones while doing jobs. Basically, all the times I don’t have my phone handy. So actually curating the playlist is a pain. CarPlay and Siri can't really do it via the Apple Music app. Enter Overplay, the app. A Siri/CarPlay-first Apple Music player designed around on-the-go curation. Promote songs, retire songs, and generally keep your playlist fresh without having to fiddle around in Apple Music. I built it for myself because it’s how I listen to music, but I figured other people might find it useful too. It’s completely free and open source, and I’ve just made the beta available on TestFlight. The Mac version is coming. Particularly interested to know if anyone else listens to music this way. submitted by /u/elbrux [link] [comments]
