Grand Theft Auto's radio stations have long stood as an integral part of the series' whole vibe—either offering time capsules of the times each game was set in (Vice City), or offering a realistic blend of classic and modernity a la Grand Theft Auto 5's excellent music curation.Critical Hit(Image credit: Future)Welcome to Critical Hit, where I (or someone else on the PC Gamer team) celebrate and lament all things videogame music, audio design, and the ways our favourite games make our ears tingle.I've been just a tad giddy to discover what awaits me in Grand Theft Auto 6's car stereos when the game launches on November 19, which has me surprised that Rockstar teasing six of its upcoming stations earlier this month completely flew under my radar. Well, now I've had a gander and listened to all 12 minutes of its DJs bantering and a peppering of bangers between. And I gotta say, I'm already jazzed to speed down Leonida's highways with some of these stations at full volume. Rockstar's licensed music curation rarely misses, and that very much seems to be the continuing trend with Grand Theft Auto 6. While we don't know just how many radio stations there are in total yet—this is the first game where we'll be able to tune in to both terrestrial music stations and podcasts, it being 2026 and all—but the six that were teased were the exact kind of flavours I've come to expect from the series.(Image credit: Rockstar Games)There's Latin station Cocoteo FM, classic country Back Country Radio, African channel AfroBANK FM, all-out metal hub The Chamber 106.6, pop banger central Flash FM, and hip-hop destination Dirty South Classics. I'm already 100% here for The Chamber's setlist, being an elder emo and all, with bands like Black Sabbath, Pantera, and Slayer making their way onto Leonida's airwaves. But I'm also jazzed to see newer blood on the scene, like Bad Bunny's appearance on Cocoteo. My biggest interest was in Flash FM, though. Non-Stop Pop has become such an iconic radio station for me, thanks to some excellent song choices and Cara Delevigne's delightfully deadpan delivery. It doesn't seem like I'm going to be disappointed, though—Alex Consani takes up the mantle as model-turned-radio-host alongside the excellent artist Robyn (of Bulletproof fame), and hearing one of my favourite songs in MGMT's Electric Feel is all the confidence I need in Rockstar's keen ear. While the previews do show criminally little interactions between the hosts (it seems like Grand Theft Auto 6 is going for duos across all its stations, presumably for some easy back-and-forth banter), I'm sure there'll still be satire in droves to come. Here's each radio station currently teased, along with each song present in the preview.
