Allica Bank, the challenger bank built for established businesses, has now paid more than £100 million in savings interest to its business current account customers, marking a major milestone in its mission to give British businesses a better deal from their bank. The interest has been paid through the instant-access Savings Pots attached to Allica's Business Rewards Account, which allow businesses to earn interest on their excess cash without having to lock it away. More than half of that interest has been paid in 2026 alone, as Allica continues to scale its business current account proposition, launched in 2023. This is in addition to the £79.3 million of interest established businesses have been paid through Allica’s conventional savings accounts. Many businesses will set aside significant sums of excess cash for an upcoming tax bill, a property purchase deposit, to fund a growth initiative, or just as a rainy-day fund, yet they often struggle to get a decent return on that cash. The milestone highlights the potential returns available to businesses willing to look beyond traditional high-street banks. Allica's analysis of six major banking providers found that the average instant-access savings rate available on a £75,000 business deposit was just 0.80% AER.*By comparison, through Allica’s Business Rewards Account, it offers a standard Savings Pot rate of 2.83% AER – more than three times that amount – and rewards eligible customers with the ability to unlock additional interest boosts. The maximum advertised rate, including conditional and time-limited boosts, is currently 4.08% AER.Allica has prioritised giving businesses a decent return on their cash since it launched its business bank account in 2023. Research it published in 2024 estimated that UK SMEs were missing out on £9 billion a year in potential savings interest, with billions of pounds held in accounts paying little or no interest. The milestone comes amid a period of strong growth in Allica's established business customer base. The number of businesses using its Business Rewards Account increased by 133% in 2025, reaching more than 14,000, just two years after the account launched.Designed exclusively for established businesses with between 5 and 250 employees, Allica’s Business Rewards Account is designed to be powerful and rewarding, also offering cashback on card payments, integrations with accounting software, expense cards for team members with limits and controls, and the support of a relationship manager.Richard Davies, Allica Bank’s CEO, said, “Established businesses have been getting a poor deal on their cash from the big banks for too long. These are businesses working hard to grow, create jobs and support their local economies. They shouldn't have to settle for their hard-earned money doing so little for them.“Paying our customers more than £100 million in interest from their Savings Pots shows what's possible when you build a bank specifically to support established businesses. This is real money going back into the hands of businesses who are such critical part of the UK economy and their local communities“And with more businesses choosing Allica, it's clear there's an appetite for a different kind of business banking. We're showing that businesses don't have to accept the way things have always been done.”NoYesBanking02 Nov, 2026
