DJ and media personality Etania Mutoni stopped mid-performance and kicked a man who touched her inappropriately while she was on stage at a Halloween party in Kyambogo on Saturday night. In a clip Etania later shared on Snapchat, a man in the crowd is seen touching her from behind as she dances. She ignores it the first time. When he reaches out again, she stops, fixes him with a long stare, then kicks him on the shoulder. She warns him not to try it again before carrying on with her set.Etania, who calls herself the “Life of the Party,” described the man’s behaviour as disrespectful and directed her frustration at parents.“Raise your kids to be better,” she wrote. The man has not been identified. Not the first timeEtania joins a growing list of Ugandan female entertainers who have publicly pushed back against being groped or harassed by fans while performing, including Sheebah, Vinka, Winnie Nwagi and Chozen Blood. The incident has reignited conversations about how women performers are treated at campus and nightlife events, and what organisers and security can do to keep artists safe on stage.Touching someone without their consent is not a compliment, and it is not part of the show.Should event organisers do more to protect performers?
