Opta’s supercomputer now expects Tottenham to finish ninth in the Premier League this season, a significant improvement on where it had Roberto De Zerbi’s side just a few weeks ago.Spurs are finally moving in the right direction after a dreadful start to the campaign, and their recent results have made a noticeable difference to the forecast. Saturday 31st October Premier League TottenhamTottenham2|0Crystal PalaceCrystal PalaceSaturday’s 2-0 win over Crystal Palace, courtesy of goals from Archie Gray and Jan Paul van Hecke, lifted Tottenham to eighth in the actual Premier League table. It was their third consecutive league victory following wins over Coventry City and Chelsea, leaving Spurs with 12 points from nine matches. That would be a considerable improvement on last season’s 17th-place finish, although it would still likely leave Spurs outside the European places. The supercomputer has Brentford finishing eighth on 53.20 points, with Newcastle United just behind Tottenham in tenth on 50.55. There is very little separating those sides in the forecast, so it would not take much for the predicted order to change again.Opta gives Tottenham a 7.52% chance of qualifying for the Champions League and a 5.89% chance of making the Europa League. Their relegation probability is now down to 5.50%, a figure that would have looked rather optimistic during the opening weeks of the season.Opta’s full predicted Premier League table for 2026/27Predicted positionClubCurrent positionPredicted pointsCurrent pointsPoints still expectedTitle %UCL %UEL %Relegation %1Arsenal181.212457.2168.23%97.98%1.11%0.00%2Manchester City271.982150.9818.86%84.18%6.54%0.01%3Brighton366.591947.596.86%65.93%11.23%0.04%4Liverpool563.211548.213.06%48.47%13.84%0.15%5Chelsea459.741643.741.45%31.31%13.49%0.47%6Aston Villa955.391243.390.33%16.05%9.66%1.94%7Bournemouth755.101243.100.40%15.85%9.75%2.14%8Brentford653.201439.200.23%11.03%7.88%3.19%9Tottenham Hotspur851.201239.200.15%7.52%5.89%5.50%10Newcastle United1250.551139.550.15%6.73%4.95%7.23%11Everton1449.411039.410.12%4.87%4.90%9.21%12Leeds United1148.691137.690.10%4.22%3.87%9.46%13Manchester United1744.00737.000.02%1.48%1.29%22.16%14Fulham1543.59934.590.02%1.17%1.28%23.44%15Ipswich Town1343.651132.650.01%0.92%1.10%24.20%16Hull City1041.991130.990.00%0.56%0.90%30.03%17Nottingham Forest1941.67635.670.00%0.63%0.82%31.86%18Coventry City1640.76931.760.00%0.51%0.59%37.20%19Crystal Palace1839.48732.480.01%0.40%0.54%44.15%20Sunderland2038.45533.450.00%0.19%0.37%47.62%Source: Opta Analyst, predicted Premier League table viewed on 1 November 2026. The figures are model projections and may change following further results. How much has Tottenham’s predicted finish improved?A few weeks ago, Opta had Tottenham finishing 16th. That was after the 1-1 draw against Manchester United at Old Trafford, when Spurs were still waiting for their first Premier League victory of the season. The 3-1 win over Coventry changed things a little, lifting the prediction to 13th with 45.58 points. It was a step in the right direction, but the supercomputer still gave Spurs a 19.24% chance of relegation. Then came the victory at Stamford Bridge, with Opta moving Tottenham up to 11th on 49.28 points. The latest forecast has them another two places higher, with their projected points total increasing to 51.20.That means Spurs have climbed seven places in Opta’s forecast since the draw at Old Trafford. Their predicted points total has also increased by 1.92 compared with the figures we reported after Chelsea, although these changes reflect results across the league rather than Tottenham’s matches alone.Perhaps the biggest difference is in the relegation odds. Opta gave Tottenham a 19.24% chance of going down after the Coventry win, but that figure has now fallen to 5.50%.Is a ninth-place finish realistic for Tottenham? There is certainly more encouragement amongst the Tottenham fanbase than there was a few weeks ago, although Saturday’s victory over Crystal Palace saw Jean-Philippe Mateta sent off after just 13 minutes, leaving the visitors to play most of the match with ten men.Spurs dominated possession and managed 34 shots, with nine on target, but they still had to wait until the 73rd minute for Van Hecke to double their advantage. De Zerbi will be pleased with the result and the number of chances his team created, although there is room for improvement in front of goal, especially with Mohammed Kudus missing a huge chance to make it 3-0.The supercomputer expects Tottenham to collect another 39.20 points from their remaining 29 league matches. That works out at around 1.35 points per game, which is a much lower rate than Spurs have managed during their recent winning run. That is probably the biggest question facing De Zerbi now. Can Tottenham turn this good spell into the sort of consistency needed to challenge the teams above them?Ninth would represent significant progress after two consecutive 17th-place finishes, but supporters will understandably want to aim higher and next few weeks should give us a better indication of whether Spurs have genuinely turned a corner or are simply enjoying a welcome run of results.
