Watt reveals Broncos stadium security denied him entry before Chiefs clash“I was up early, daylight savings in the West Coast, so I did a walk at 6 am. and I started walking, and way off in the distance, I saw the stadium, and I was like, ‘It’s a beautiful day. Let’s walk over there,'” Watt told Kyle Long during a live CBS segment on Sunday morning.“So I walk over to the stadium, and I get there, and I don’t have a credential because I wasn’t planning on walking to the stadium. And they’re like, ‘Go through security,'” Watt went on.“I do the face recognition, [and] it lights up green, [it] says ‘JJ Watt, welcome to the stadium.’ So I’m like, “All right,” I start to walk in, and they go, ‘Sorry, sorry, you can’t come in.’“And I said, ‘Why not?’ They said, ‘You don’t have a credential.’ And I said, ‘I just scanned my face; [it] said I’m in.’ And they said, ‘I’m sorry, we can’t.'”“So an employee walks over and goes, ‘That’s for him onto the field.’ And they’re like, ‘No, if he doesn’t have a credential, he can’t get in.’ So, respect to the Broncos security staff, but I couldn’t get into the stadium this morning, so I still haven’t been.”After hearing the story, Long joked: “I tell you what-that’s got to be the only person in the history of the universe to be able to successfully block JJ.”Watt eventually got into the stadium to see Bo Nix and the Broncos orchestrate a fourth-quarter comeback against Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs.Watt and Jim Nantz praised for Justin Tucker coverageWatt and and play-by-play announcer Jim Nantz were praised during the contest for the way they handled calling a Justin Tucker field goal.Watt has been elevated to CBS’ No. 1 crew following Romo’s DWI arrestGettyTucker was released by the Ravens in 2024 and hasn’t played sinceGettyThe Chiefs signed the former Baltimore Ravens kicker to their practice squad last week.Tucker hasn’t kicked in the NFL since 2024 after violating the NFL’s personal-conduct policy following allegations of sexual misconduct, for which he received a 10-game suspension last season. After Amazon Prime’s Al Michaels and Kirk Herbstreit were critiziced for their coverage of Green Bay Packers running back Josh Jacobs last week in the wake of his allegations, Watt and Nantz were lauded for shining a light on Tuckers’ controversy before Harrison Butker made a 45-yard attempt just before halftime.“Of course, one of the big stories this past week is that the Chiefs, because of the way Butker has struggled, going all the way back to the start of last season, they signed kicker Justin Tucker to their practice squad,” Nantz said. “Just last year, Tucker had to serve a 10-game suspension for violating the league’s personal conduct policy.”“Given the multitude of allegations of nonconsensual behavior, Tucker’s signing this week just drew a sharp rebuke in Kansas City and really all over the NFL landscape,” Nantz continued.“And understandably, Andy Reid and the Chiefs organization, at his press conference this week, had to spend I would say almost half of it answering questions about it,” Watt added.ESPN’s Mina Kimes posted on X: “Appreciated Nantz and Watt explaining why the Tucker signing in KC was controversial. Took about 30 seconds and then kept it moving—it’s not rocket science.”Watt was promoted to the CBS’ No. 1 booth to serve as their lead color commentator after Tony Romo’s arrest and suspension over a OWI back in July. After being placed on indefinite leave by the network almost immediately, Romo’s departure was made permanent at the beginning of October.Watt was given the opportunity during the first part of the season before being given the role of lead analyst permanently. Watt and Nantz’ chemistry has continued to build over the past few weeks, with the pair recently going viral when the veteran ‘broke his wrist’ attempting to punch a ball out of Watt’s arms.Sign up for talkSPORT Stateside, the YouTube channel dedicated to passionate US Sports fans.
