Donald Trump is no stranger to complimenting his close family members. In 2006 he described his daughter Ivanka as a “real piece of ass” and famously noted, “She does have a very nice figure… If Ivanka weren’t my daughter, perhaps I’d be dating her.” But it seems his romantic inclinations don’t extend to his sisters, Maryanne and Elizabeth Trump. In what was apparently an allusion to his pet conspiracy theory that Ilhan Omar secretly married her brother, Trump felt it was important to inform the audience at his rally in Salina, Kansas on Oct. 31 that he has never, ever wanted to date his sisters. To a baffled, largely silent crowd, Trump said: “Look, people years ago, they asked me, ‘Are you dating your sister?’ I said, “No.” But she said something a little different. I have beautiful… two beautiful sisters. One of ’em passed away, fantastic person. Federal judge. Top top federal judge and the other is a beautiful sister, but I’ve never had an interest in dating her, marrying her.” “No interest. Zero interest. Zero zero zero.” Trump went on to add: “And when asked by the press. If they ever ask me. I would say, “no no, I have no interest. Zero interest. Zero zero zero. Never even crossed my mind.”” That should be reassuring to Trump’s surviving sister Elizabeth, who is 84 years old, lives in Florida, and keeps a very low public profile. Even if Donald had been interested in dating her, it’s doubtful she would have agreed to it. In private recordings released after her death, Maryanne was scathing about her younger brother, saying (per The Washington Post): “All he wants to do is appeal to his base. He has no principles. None. His goddamned tweeting and lying… oh my god. I’m talking too freely, but you know. The change of stories. The lack of preparation. The lying. Holy s***. […] It’s the phoniness of it all. It’s the phoniness and this cruelty. Donald is cruel.” Maryanne went on to claim that her younger brother didn’t read any books and that he’d fraudulently entered college by arranging for someone to take the entrance exam in his place. She also referenced Donald’s failed business ventures and the financial chaos he’s inflicted on his business associates, warning, “You can’t trust him.”
