The Supreme Court will hold its normal sitting on Tuesday, November 3, despite the indefinite strike declared by the Judicial Service Staff Association of Ghana (JUSAG).A notice issued on Monday, November 2, and signed by Judicial Secretary Musah Ahmed, said the sitting would proceed on the directive of the Chief Justice, Justice Paul Baffoe-Bonnie.“Pursuant to the direction of His Lordship, the Chief Justice, it is hereby notified for the information of all Lawyers and parties to proceedings that the Supreme Court shall convene for its normal court business tomorrow, Tuesday, 3rd November 2026,” the notice stated. It advised lawyers and parties with cases listed before the court to take note and make the necessary arrangements. The notice comes as JUSAG begins an indefinite strike over the government’s failure to approve and pay its reviewed 2026 salaries and related arrears. The association has insisted that its members will remain on strike until their demands are addressed. The industrial action raises questions about the availability of administrative and support services across the Judicial Service, which are ordinarily provided by JUSAG members.Although the Supreme Court has directed that its sitting will proceed, it remains unclear how the strike will affect the provision of support services during proceedings. The court is expected to sit on Tuesday, with lawyers and parties whose cases are listed having been formally notified.
