wanted to know if anyone had any good/bad experiences working in peds on Oahu. My husband is getting stationed there for 3 yrs in a few months and I’ve been trying to scope out the feel of workplaces ahead of time. for context, I have 5+ yrs of experience in specialty peds (CVPICU & PICU), have traveled before and would be open to doing so again if it would help me land a staff job, and am open to staying in critical care but not married to it - just as long as it’s peds. I’ve heard it’s tough to get a staff job at all on the island but would love something part time as I’m also thinking about going back to school and we have a kiddo. further context: I stayed within my specialty when we moved to our current duty station and got a staff job and ngl it’s not my favorite. I’ve found this unit difficult to plug into and the vibe is a lil hostile to newcomers. I’m really hoping to find somewhere a little socially warmer and at this point wouldn’t even care if it was inpatient or not - i‘d take an urgent care job lol. TIA! submitted by /u/Tryingmybestie123 [link] [comments]
