I built Umless, a speech practice tool that shows every “umm” you say instead of hiding it

Wait 5 sec.

Hey r/SideProject 👋 I just launched my first product: Umless (umless.in) The problem: I kept fumbling interview answers I knew well. The content was fine, but the delivery was a mess. When I finally read an exact transcript of myself, I’d said “umm” [23] times in 2 minutes. I never heard any of it while speaking. Most transcription tools automatically clean out fillers. Mock interviews cost ₹1,000–2,000 per session. I couldn’t find a cheap way to see how I actually sound. What it does: You speak your answer, pitch or presentation You get the exact raw transcript with every “umm,” “like,” “basically” and pause kept You can paste it into any LLM for feedback on delivery and structure You bring your own questions, so it works for interviews, presentations, viva or speeches Stack: FastAPI backend Deepgram for speech-to-text Clerk for auth Razorpay for payments Oracle Cloud free tier for the VM, object storage and container registry Nginx, with Docker containers for the API, frontend and proxy Solo-built, running on near-zero infra cost. Pricing: ₹49 for a 60-minute session. I wanted it cheap enough that students could actually use it. I’d love feedback on: Is the value clear within 10 seconds of landing on the site? Does pricing per session make sense, or would you expect a subscription? Anything broken: signup, payments, recording, long sessions, accents Should it give its own AI feedback, or is “paste into your LLM” fine? I’ve used it daily for 2 weeks, and my filler count went from 23 to 6. Now I want to know if it’s useful to anyone besides me 😅 Brutal feedback welcome. submitted by /u/No_Expression_5450 [link] [comments]
