Darren Till is furious that he wasn’t picked to fight Jake Paul next. The former UFC star was one of four fighters who had been in talks to face Paul in his first outing since having his jaw broken by Anthony Joshua.Darren Till is 4-0 as a boxer, but is currently plying his trade with BKFCGettyHowever, it was confirmed earlier on Monday that Paul would be boxing two-time Glory Kickboxing welterweight champion Cedric Doumbe instead. The pair will meet in a professionally sanctioned cruiserweight contest over eight three-minute rounds on Christmas Eve (December 24) at the Coca-Cola Arena in Dubai.Till, who now resides in Dubai, was quick to react to the announcement. “Absolutely terrified,” Till wrote on X, accompanied by three emojis of a laughing face, a thumbs up, and a rat.The Liverpudlian tagged Paul in the post, as well as his business partner at Most Valuable Promotions (MVP), Nakisa Bidarian.Bidarian had told The Sun last week that Till was ‘definitely’ in the running to land the fight. He also featured on Paul’s 14-man hit list that was released earlier this year.Alarm bells did, however, start ringing when Till took to social media two weeks ago to write: “Waiting for the [contract].“@jakepaul stop f****** around. Another MMA fighter for you to beat.”Another post directed at Bidarian read: “Stop f****** about and grow a set of balls and send the contract and I’ll smash your boy’s head in.”Jake Paul picked Cedric Doumbe over Till for his upcoming fight on December 24GettyOn Halloween, Till declared that Paul had ‘gone missing’, and two days later the Doumbe fight was announced.Neither Paul nor Bidarian have addressed why Doumbe was picked over Till at the time of writing. Doumbe does appear to be an easier fight, at least on paper, given that he has only boxed once and is a naturally smaller man than Till. The fact that Doumbe is currently competing for the MVP-owned PFL is likely to have sweetened the deal as well. Doumbe is 6-1 in MMA, 75-7-1 in kickboxing and 1-0 in boxing. He beat fellow debutant Mohamed Fodil on points in his sole boxing bout in 2015.Watch Boxing on DAZN*If you click a link in this boxout, we will earn affiliate revenueSign up to DAZN to access the definitive subscription for boxing fans.Upgrade to DAZN Ultimate from just £24.99/month, guaranteeing access to 185+ fights annually, a minimum of 12 pay-per-views at no extra cost, as well as every Lega Serie A match and other elite football access.Alternatively, DAZN Standard is just £15.99/month, with the caveat you will have to pay for pay-per-view events.Click here to sign up.
