A printable PD100 battery mount for Steam Frame: above or below the rear pod

Wait 5 sec.

For anyone looking at external battery mounting, DeeJanuz has shared STL files and editable OpenSCAD sources for a BoboVR PD100 mount on Frame’s rear battery pod. There are two layouts: an under mount below and behind the pod, and an over mount that keeps the battery closer to the top of it. The author describes the under layout as better suited to movement and the over layout as leaving less sticking out behind your head. Those are design intentions, not results we’ve independently tested. You need the PD100 dock, a compatible B100-style battery, printed clip/mount parts and Command strips; the printable files are not a complete battery kit. The README recommends PETG and gives print orientation, support and assembly details. One detail worth checking before printing: the wide-top clip variant may prevent the original rear cushion from fitting back on. The author also says to check the clip and adhesive before each session and stop if anything cracks or loosens. Files, photos and instructions: https://github.com/DeeJanuz/steam-frame-pd100-mount This is an unofficial community design, not a Valve or BoboVR accessory. If you’ve built it, which layout did you use, and how did it affect rear-cushion clearance, head movement and comfort? Please include your print material and clip variant. submitted by /u/dead_pool01 to r/SteamFrameCommunity [link] [comments]
