In AdGuard Mini for Mac v3.0, we focused on how the app feels to use: better performance, lower resource use, a tidier tray, and the first steps toward full accessibility. We’re also giving you an early look at experimental System-wide protection, which brings ad and tracker blocking to apps beyond Safari.Less RAM, more speedSome of you reported overheating and high CPU load during long sessions. To solve this at the root, we moved AdGuard Mini’s interface to WKWebView, a built-in macOS component powered by WebKit, the same engine Safari is built on. The app now loads much faster and uses less RAM and CPU.A cleaner trayYou can now choose which stories you see. Click Hide on any story card in the app tray to dismiss it.Basic VoiceOver supportWe’ve begun rolling out screen reader support. VoiceOver can now read headings and interactive controls aloud, with full element-by-element accessibility arriving in future updates.System-wide protection: an early lookSafari is just one piece of the puzzle. Network traffic also travels through standalone apps, from music streaming to messengers, and ads and trackers follow.AdGuard Mini is among the very first consumer applications to use Apple's official system-level filtering API, which lets it block ads and trackers across your Mac, not just in Safari. Apple’s filtering API uses Private Information Retrieval (PIR), so AdGuard never sees the URLs or domains you visit. So far, System-wide protection is available as an experimental feature. Why? There is an unresolved bug on Apple’s side, so it may not work for everyone yet. For example, it currently doesn’t work correctly on macOS 27.2.Once the feature is working for everyone, it will take its place as a core part of AdGuard Mini. How to try System-wide protectionYou can still try System-wide protection if you have an AdGuard license and macOS 26 or later. If you’re on the release version, the feature is hidden by default. Go to Settings → Miscellaneous and turn on Show System-wide protection (Experimental). After that, you’ll see everything related to the feature, including the System-wide protection block in Advanced protection. If you’re a beta tester, System-wide protection is already visible. Open AdGuard Mini for Mac from the menu bar, go to Advanced protection, and toggle the switch on.For detailed installation instructions and troubleshooting, go to our knowledge base.Tell us what you thinkWe’d love to hear how v3.0 works for you, especially if you try the experimental System-wide protection.
