Hello everyone! I am not a nurse but I’m looking for some advice, long story short I have a 2 year old daughter with extreme medical complexities. Our long term day nurse just had a baby so we had to find a replacement, let’s call her D. Well from the beginning the agency told us D was temporary because she lived an hour away, she seemed great at first! She had been with the agency for years, did all my daughter’s therapies, followed the schedule. Then she arrived thirty minutes late one day, oh well, tells us she was sitting in the parking lot dealing with some personal matters. I thought it was unprofessional but we’re all human and have lives, then I saw the time card and she put she had arrived on time. The next day she called out four hours before her shift started due to personal reasons. Okay. I talk to her about simple communication when running behind and she’s on time from there on out, a month goes by and I haven’t gotten any interviews with any nurses. Suddenly she starts talking on the phone all the time, Id see her on her phone ignoring my daughter and whenever I got onto her- she insisted she was just doing notes/charting. She’s a nice person, but whenever I corrected her she would completely shut down. Like one time when she gave my daughter the wrong dose and I had her go over every medication with me (freaking seizure medication get it right), and she got super flustered. Finally I started getting interviews with nurses, I found someone I liked and she was rude to them! I called her out and she said ‘well I’m just going to be out of a job once November ends’. I had to remind her no, once we get a replacement- you’re out and she suddenly was thinking of ways to become permanent. No. Well on Thursday I walk into my daughters room I’m and D’s messing with my daughter’s GJ, I asked what had happened and she said my daughter broke the GJ. Which is physically impossible because my daughter is very impaired, she left that evening not taking any accountability and we had to go to the ED. IR confirmed it had broke/cracked from constant tugging against the attachments. She was scheduled for Monday but I texted the agency to cancel all of her shifts this week and any future shifts, I blocked her number but tbh kinda nervous she’ll just show up at my door tomorrow. I’m at the point where I don’t care if we’re down a nurse and I miss work, I don’t trust her with my daughter. But with all of this being said, should I inform the nursing agency of everything? Would they even believe me? She’s been with them for five years and made it seem like she was hella close with the head honcho, saying she went out to lunch with him and such. if she shows up tomorrow I’ll tell her to leave but this whole situation makes me anxious. submitted by /u/Straight_Duck2562 [link] [comments]
