Maltese artist Glenn Cauchi has paid tribute to beloved author, cartoonist, illustrator and academic Ġorġ Mallia with a graffiti portrait following his death at the age of 68.The artwork commemorates a man whose work became familiar to generations of Maltese readers, particularly through his contributions to children’s literature and illustration.Mallia was behind works including the popular Pullu series, Ktieb ix-Xwejjaħ and Avventura taħt l-Art, while also contributing to children’s publications including Sagħtar and HeyU!.But his impact stretched well beyond the books and illustrations many grew up with.Mallia was also an academic at the University of Malta, where he lectured and served as head of the Department of Media and Communications.His work across literature, cartoons, illustration, education and media left a distinctive mark on Malta’s cultural landscape.And now, Cooker’s graffiti portrait offers another fitting tribute to Mallia’s creativity and the legacy he leaves behind.Share this amazing piece of artwork!Photo credits to @cooker_hkc •
