Following suit with the UEFA Champions League, the Europa League field and matchups were finalized on Friday.Weston McKennie, Christian Pulisic, and Auston Trusty headline the 11 American players set to feature in this season’s competition. Chris Richards, Malik Tillman, and Tyler Adams are also among the American contingent who learned their schedules for the league phase. McKennie, Pulisic, and Yunus Musah sealed their spots into the Europa League following Juventus and AC Milan’s finishes in the 2025-26 Serie A season. Tillman and Leverkusen finished sixth in the Bundesliga last campaign while Tessmann and Lyon dropped into the Europa League following a two-legged series loss to Fenerbahce earlier this week in Champions League qualifying. Richards and Crystal Palace won the Conference League title last season, earning a jump up to the Europa League this season. Adams helped Bournemouth seal their first-ever trip to Europe after a sixth-place finish in last season’s Premier League. Cameron Carter-Vickers, Auston Trusty and Celtic will also be part of the Europa League after a UCL qualifying collapse against Austrian side LASK. Tim Weah and Bryan Reynolds round out the 11 American players set for UEL involvement after Marseille and Stade Rennes both finished in Ligue 1’s top-six last campaign. There will be one American manager in the competition with Pellegrino Matarazzo leading Spanish club Real Sociedad. Matarazzo won the Copa Del Rey last season with Sociedad, his first trophy as a manager. Among the headlining contests for American players are AC Milan’s trip to Bournemouth, Crystal Palace’s visit to Lyon, Juventus’ home date with Stade Rennes, and Celtic’s showdown with Marseille. The UEL League Phase stage begins on September 16.
