From last to first!European shipper NAOMIS (FR) (f, 3, City Light {Fr}–Biting {GB}, by Lope de Vega {Ire}) hit the gas from the back of the field Saturday, rocketing up the center of the Saratoga turf course to take down the GII Lake Placid Stakes for Chad Brown.A three-time winner in her native France, including a last-out win in the G2 Prix de Sandringham at Chantilly in May, the 6-5 favorite was coaxed from the gate and in absolutely no rush early as jockey Flavien Prat settled his filly down at the hedge while last into the first turn.A several-length gap opened up between her and the field as the fractions went in :25.02 and :49.44 but Prat clearly knew what he had, sitting chilly as Naomis began to inch her back into touch with the rest of the runners.Still last but now tipped outside, the favorite began to overtake runners, turning for home with plenty of work still to do but yet to find her highest gear.
