Thursday's live racing program at Kentucky Downs has been moved to an 11:00 AM CT first post due to a heat advisory issued by the National Weather Service for the Franklin, Kentucky area and the ninth race featured on the card, the $750,000 Marsh McLennan Bowling Green Gold Cup Invitational, will shift to Wednesday, Sept. 9, according to a press release on Tuesday from the track.Kentucky Downs management made the decision out of abundance of safety, and in conjunction with the Kentucky Horse Racing Commission and the horsemen. Originally scheduled as an 11-race program, Thursday will now only run the first thru the seventh race as scheduled.The Bowling Green Gold Cup will join the $2 million GIII Blackwood Dueling Grounds Oaks Invitational and the $750,000 Pepsi Juvenile Mile on next week's Wednesday card.The Kentucky Downs racing office will re-open invitations for the Bowling Green Gold Cup, which will be redrawn Wednesday, Sept. 2.Additionally, eighth, tenth and eleventh for Thursday's card are listed in the condition book for either Monday, Sept. 7 or Wednesday, Sept. 9 (horses must be re-entered) and post positions are to be drawn Tuesday, Sept. 1 or Wednesday, Sept. 2.The Racing Department expects to card two divisions of all three races for the final two days of the meet provided that sufficient entries are received.The post Kentucky Downs Changes Thursday Program With Hot Temps Expected appeared first on TDN | Thoroughbred Daily News | Horse Racing News, Results and Video | Thoroughbred Breeding and Auctions.
