Electricity supply was restored across Gozo on Saturday night after some households endured around 26 hours of power disruption following two major faults on the island’s high-voltage network.Energy Minister Miriam Dalli announced at around 10pm that Enemalta technicians had completed repair works in Comino and that the company had begun restoring electricity to the remaining areas without supply.Not every household was left without electricity continuously for the entire 26-hour period. During the disruption, Enemalta worked to restore and redirect supply to different areas while its teams located and repaired the faults.However, some residents remained affected for significantly longer, with Dalli acknowledging the “26 difficult hours” experienced by those caught up in the outages.Enemalta later confirmed that the repaired high-voltage cable in Comino was back online, meaning all three high-voltage cables supplying Gozo had returned to service.The company thanked its technical teams, saying they had worked long hours and in intense heat to complete the repairs.Dalli similarly thanked Enemalta workers for working “day and night” in difficult conditions to locate and repair the two major faults, saying the aim was to return electricity supply to normal.Enemalta said technical teams would remain deployed even after the restoration to deal with any localised issues that could still arise.Dalli also said work would continue on the government’s nine-year plan to strengthen the resilience of Malta’s electricity network, including in Gozo.Photos: Enemalta•
