Gold Breaks Below 4300 — Don't Chase the Sell-OffGold / U.S. DollarFOREXCOM:XAUUSDCatherine_XAUUSD 🔥 XAUUSD Update: Gold Breaks Below 4300 — Don't Chase the Sell-Off Gold has experienced two significant bearish moves within only three trading days this week, and the important 4300 support level has now failed to hold. With the Non-Farm Payrolls report getting closer, market volatility and the battle between bulls and bears are likely to increase further. At this stage, my most important trading principle is simple: 📉 DON'T CHASE THE MARKET LOWER — WAIT FOR A REBOUND AND SELL AT A BETTER PRICE. The broader bearish structure remains intact, but after several sharp declines, the risk of entering short positions at the current lows has increased. 🌍 Why Is Gold Falling? The main driver behind this decline is the rapid increase in expectations for tighter US monetary policy. After several Fed officials delivered relatively hawkish comments, market expectations for further rate hikes increased sharply. At the same time, US Treasury yields moved higher, creating additional pressure on gold. Normally, rising geopolitical tensions and higher oil prices could increase safe-haven demand for gold. However, the market is currently interpreting higher oil prices differently. Higher energy prices may increase inflation pressure, which could give the Federal Reserve another reason to keep monetary policy restrictive. As a result, gold's safe-haven appeal has been temporarily outweighed by rising interest-rate expectations. In my opinion, this is the main reason why gold has remained under pressure despite continued geopolitical uncertainty. 📊 Technical Outlook: Oversold but Still Bearish From a technical perspective, gold has now fallen sharply below several short-term moving averages. Multiple indicators are also entering oversold territory. However, oversold conditions do not automatically mean that a market will immediately reverse. The trend can remain oversold for an extended period. What oversold conditions do tell us is that aggressively chasing the market lower is becoming increasingly risky. A technical rebound could happen at any time. For now, the main resistance levels are: 📌 4345-4360 📌 4380 The key support zone is now located around: 📌 4280-4270 If gold breaks below 4270 with confirmation, bearish momentum could accelerate again. The next downside targets could then move toward: 📌 4215 📌 4200 💡 My Personal View I believe the broader bearish trend has not changed yet. However, after several sharp declines, gold is now showing increasingly oversold conditions. For this reason, the risk-to-reward ratio for chasing shorts at the current lows is not attractive. My preferred strategy remains: ✔️ Wait for a rebound. ✔️ Sell near key resistance. ✔️ Avoid emotional short entries at the lows. ✔️ Consider small counter-trend long positions only if strong support and stabilization signals appear. The main trend remains bearish, but short-term rebounds can happen quickly in an oversold market. 🎯 XAUUSD Trading Plan 🔴 SELL SETUP — MAIN STRATEGY 📍 SELL ZONE: 4345-4360 🚫 STOP LOSS: 4485 🎯 TARGET 1: 4300 🎯 TARGET 2: 4280-4270 The preferred strategy is to wait for price to rebound into the resistance zone and then look for bearish confirmation. If gold remains below resistance and fails to recover strongly, selling pressure may continue. 🟢 BUY SETUP — SHORT-TERM COUNTER-TREND TRADE 📍 BUY ZONE: 4285-4295 🚫 STOP LOSS: 4265 🎯 TARGET 1: 4335 🎯 TARGET 2: 4345 ⚠️ This is a short-term counter-trend trade and should be approached with caution. I would keep the position size relatively small and manage risk carefully. 🔥 Final Thoughts Gold remains bearish, but the market is becoming increasingly stretched after multiple sharp declines. The trend is bearish, but the best strategy is not to blindly chase the market lower. Patience is important. Wait for better prices. Sell the rebounds. Respect the major support levels. And always stay flexible as we approach the upcoming Non-Farm Payrolls data. 👇 What is your view?
