The ongoing refurbishment of the iconic Hollywood Brown Derby restaurant at Disney’s Hollywood Studios is almost complete, according to guests who visited the third Central Florida Disney park on Monday. This Table-Service dining location, inspired by the legendary hat-shaped restaurant in Los Angeles, opened alongside Disney’s Hollywood Studios on May 1, 1989.Construction at Disney’s Hollywood StudiosCredit: gardener41, FlickrSigns of construction first appeared outside the Hollywood Brown Derby in June. Rolling planters and other barriers blocked the patio space to the side of the main restaurant entrance, which the Hollywood Brown Derby Lounge typically uses.At first, it looked like Walt Disney World Resort was just pouring new pavement in the area. However, Disney also refinished the outer wall on the side of the building, and eventually made it clear that it planned to reimagine the outdoor dining space with more amenities for guests. Individual umbrellas once shaded the dining area, but Disney had a much more permanent replacement in mind.Hollywood Brown Derby Refurbishment Almost CompleteCredit: Brittany DiCologero, Inside the MagicOn August 31, WDWNT reported that the multimonth construction project at the Hollywood Brown Derby is almost finished. The Hollywood Brown Derby Lounge, which usually occupies the space under construction, is open, but with reduced dining space in the smaller side-patio area on the other side of the restaurant.Walt Disney World Resort has not said when it expects to wrap up this construction project at the Hollywood Brown Derby.
