Jurors in the trial of Yorgen Fenech have officially been sent to deliberate, bringing the 55-day trial one major step closer to a verdict.Judge Edwina Grima concluded her address to the jury on Wednesday after spending the past few days going through the extensive testimony and evidence presented throughout the trial.“I pray to God to help you in your decision,” the judge told jurors before ending proceedings and sending them to deliberate.The jury will now consider the case before returning to the courtroom with its verdict.Fenech stands accused of complicity and conspiring to murder investigative journalist Daphne Caruana Galizia, who was assassinated in a car bomb in October 2017.He denies the charges against him. If found guilty, he could face life imprisonment.The deliberations mark the final stage of a trial that has stretched across 55 days, with jurors hearing evidence from numerous witnesses as well as testimony from Fenech himself.Malta now awaits the jury’s verdict.•
