GBPUSD Consolidation Bearish Pressure & Downside OutlookGreat British Pound vs. US DollarFX:GBPUSDMR_GOLD_12GBPUSD remains under selling pressure after failing to reclaim the 1.3580–1.3600 resistance zone. Price has repeatedly attempted to recover, but every bounce is being met with fresh selling, creating a clear pattern of lower highs and bearish continuation. Tecnically there is also a broader macro reason for the pressure. Markets are currently focused heavily on U.S. employment and inflation data, which could influence the Federal Reserve's September rate decision. Fed Chair Kevin Warsh's recent hawkish comments increased expectations for a possible September hike, supporting the dollar and creating additional pressure on GBPUSD. At the same time, expectations for aggressive Bank of England tightening have weakened. Recent market pricing has pushed the next meaningful BoE hike further out, while the BoE has kept Bank Rate at 3.75% and highlighted uncertainty surrounding UK growth and inflation. As long recent rejection from the upper consolidation area around 1.3600–1.3660 suggests that buyers are struggling to regain control the sharp breakdown below the 1.3560 area further weakened the short-term structure, leaving 1.3520 as the first important downside liquidity/support target a sustained break below 1.3520 could open the way toward 1.3490. Resistance ;1.35600 / 1.35800 Support ; 1.35200 / 1,34900 Today's move should not be attributed to one single news release. The current weakness looks more like a combination of technical rejection + changing interest-rate expectations + USD sensitivity to upcoming U.S. data. Also, August 31 is a UK bank holiday, meaning liquidity can be thinner than normal and price moves can become less reliable.
