Constitution Hill (Blue Bresil) will be ridden by Billy Loughnane for the first time when the one-time outstanding hurdler faces his first major assignment on the Flat in Saturday's G3 William Hill September Stakes at Kempton.Trained by Nicky Henderson, Constitution Hill is unbeaten in two starts on the level and was last sighted on a racecourse in March when winning a novice event over the same course and distance as the September Stakes.He was ridden on that occasion by Ryan Moore, while Oisin Murphy was in the saddle when the nine-year-old kicked off his Flat career in style with an impressive victory at Southwell in February.However, Loughnane's agent Tony Hind – who also represents Moore – confirmed on Monday that the championship-leading jockey will be taking over at Kempton, with Moore required elsewhere and Murphy booked to ride last year's G1 Grosser Dallmayr-Preis – Bayerisches Zuchtrennen winner Tornado Alert (Too Darn Hot) for Saeed bin Suroor.“His [Henderson's] first choice was Ryan, who is riding in America,” said Hind. “So, I offered him Billy, who is definitely there riding in the Sirenia Stakes, and Nicky confirmed this morning that he was fine for Billy to ride.”Constitution Hill and Tornado Alert feature among 14 confirmations for what is shaping up to be a red-hot edition of the September Stakes, with George Scott's Bay City Roller (New Bay), a wide-margin winner of the G1 Coronation Cup, spearheading the potential opposition alongside the Owen Burrows-trained Gethin (Ghaiyyath) and Ralph Beckett's multiple Group 2 scorer Pride Of Arras (New Bay).Gethin heads the betting with sponsors William Hill at 2-1, ahead of Pride Of Arras at 3-1 and Bay City Roller at 9-2, with the latter being burdened with a 7lb penalty for his runaway success at Epsom.
