Rosaiah at Siripuram on Monday | Photo Credit: KR DEEPAKIT Minister Nara Lokesh unveiled a bronze statue of former Chief Minister of the undivided Andhra Pradesh Konijeti Rosaiah at Siripuram Circle in Visakhapatnam on Monday. Speaking on the occasion Mr. Lokesh described Rosaiah as an embodiment of political values and integrity. The statue was unveiled in the presence of MP M. Sribharat, Industries and Commerce Minister T.G. Bharath Gupta and other dignitaries. Recalling the demand raised by the Arya Vysya community during his ‘Yuva Galam padayatra,’ Mr. Lokesh said that the community expressed that their self-respect to be honoured. The government provided the land, and the community raised funds and installed a statue of Potti Sriramulu’s in Amaravati. With the approval of Arya Vysya elders, we named Potti Sriramulu’s statue as the ‘Statue of Sacrifice.’“Today, the installation of Roshaiah’s statue in Visakhapatnam marks another historic day. I propose that Rosaiah’s statue be named ‘The Statue of Statesman’,” he said. “He was a great statesman and a leader I admired. He never showed arrogance even while in power. When in Opposition, he would consistently question the government on behalf of the people,” Mr. Lokesh added. Mr Lokesh suggested that books and special videos detailing Rosaiah’s life and political career be created and made available to the youth. He also called for the setting up of a museum dedicated to the life of Rosaiah. He urged the elders of the Arya Vysya community to identify a site for the museum and complete it within 18 months. Industries and Commerce Minister T.G. Bharath Gupta recalled his association with Rosaiah and paid tribute to his services. He reminisced how Rosaiah had encouraged his father, T.G. Venkatesh, by inducting him into the Cabinet during his tenure as Chief Minister and highlighted Rosaiah’s significant efforts toward the development of the Arya Vysya community. Mr. Bharath also expressed gratitude to Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and Mr. Lokesh for according due importance to the Arya Vysya community in the alliance government. He requested Mr. Lokesh to provide representation for the Arya Vysya community on the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) Trust Board.
