Just Walk, a Maltese app that transforms everyday walking into tangible rewards, will open to waitlist participants on 3rd September at 11:11, before becoming officially available across Malta and Gozo.Built around a simple idea – move more, earn more – Just Walk turns the steps people already take into opportunities to unlock discounts at local and international brands. The app was designed, developed, marketed and brought to launch in just 60 days by a single founder working alongside artificial intelligence. No development agency or engineering team was hired. The entire journey was managed using AI as part of the AI for All initiative.Even before its launch, more than 5,000 people had joined the waitlist, without a single euro being spent on advertising. The concept is deliberately straightforward.Just Walk reads the step count already recorded by a user’s smartphone, converts those steps into a reward balance and unlocks coupons that can be redeemed in-store and online. Users pay nothing – no subscription, no monthly fee and no hidden charges. Its first public event took place in August, when founding members completed a 5K along the Sliema waterfront, led by endurance athlete Fabio Spiteri. Participants were then able to redeem rewards they had earned through their activity, including discounts on coffee and free pastries at the finish line. Places for the event were fully claimed within 24 hours. But Just Walk aims to provoke a bigger conversation. If walking can earn you a coffee, groceries or a gym discount, could it one day help reduce the cost of essential household bills?Imagine a Malta where a senior citizen walking 5,000 steps a day could see those steps translated into discounts on electricity or water bills. The technology has been built here. In just 60 days. Now, the question is how far Malta chooses to take it.Share this with someone who needs a little extra motivation to get their steps in•
