Aġenzija Sapport CEO Oliver Scicluna has called on motorists to show greater consideration towards people with disabilities after finding himself struggling to get back into his car because of how another vehicle had been parked.Scicluna took to Facebook to recount the incident, explaining that he had legally parked his vehicle in a designated Blue Badge space outside a local establishment, displaying his own Blue Badge.But when he returned, another vehicle had been parked so close to his car that he was left with very little room to get back inside.For Scicluna, this was more than simply an inconvenience.Due to his mobility difficulties, he explained that he needs to open his car door completely and use it for support when getting into the vehicle, while navigating narrow spaces can also prove difficult.He therefore appealed to motorists to take a moment to look at how they have parked and consider whether they might be creating difficulties for the person in the neighbouring vehicle.“Sometimes, a few centimetres can make a huge difference to another person,” Scicluna said.And with a touch of humour, he noted that there had been plenty of available space on the other side of his vehicle.The Aġenzija Sapport CEO used the experience to highlight a broader point about accessibility and the challenges people with disabilities can encounter in everyday situations.While those difficulties might not always be immediately visible to others, Scicluna stressed that a little awareness and consideration can go a long way towards making everyday life easier for everyone.Share to raise awareness!•
