By Mulengera ReportersNot very long ago, former Speaker Anita Among, who has always battled blood pressure-related complications, attempted forcing her way out of her Nakasero residence in a bid to be able to go to a private facility in Kololo to have urgent medical attention. The once very powerful Bukedea Woman MP was worried and feeling unwell after her blood pressure dropped to towards zero reading. She feared for the worst if she wasn’t able to urgently access certain quality of medical care at the facility in Kololo. Sources say that she moved out of her house and jumped into a vehicle and indicated to those enforcing the strict confinement rules that she had been placed under, that she was determined to drive out to go meet her doctors-with or without their permission. It was indicated to the guards that the former Speaker had ran out of options and was prepared to go down fighting as opposed to just watch her life slip away. A pandemonium of some sort broke out inside her compound prompting the officers and men guarding the home to escalate matters to their superiors in the security apparatus. On being rang by his men on the ground, the head of the security agency that was overseeing the home that day got concerned and undertook to quickly look for the President and explain the urgency of the situation. It was upon consultation with that security agency head that the President realized there was need to relax on restrictions under which Anita Among had been since May. Acting on purely humanitarian grounds, the President decreed that relaxation so that the hitherto totally confined Anita Among is enabled to freely move into and out of the Nakasero home so as to be able to manage her hypertension condition more efficiently. Knowledgeable sources have dismissed online media claims that the President did this after being prevailed over by some of his family members. As Gen MK informed the nation a few days ago, the President personally got touched and directed the relaxation on the restrictions that had been put on Anita Among, who has since issued a public message appreciating her God and thanking both Gen MK and President Museveni for their compassionate approach.
