—–Writes Martin Armstrong;Congratulations to the people of Iceland. They were given the opportunity to voluntarily surrender more of their sovereignty to Brussels, and 52.8% said NO. Only 47.2% supported reopening negotiations to join the European Union, despite the government pushing the issue and despite polls only days earlier suggesting the pro-EU side could prevail. Turnout reached an extraordinary 82.5%, the highest turnout in an Icelandic referendum since the vote establishing the republic. This was not voter apathy.
