DELL’s $500 Earnings Test | Aug. 31–Sept. 4Dell Technologies, Inc. Class CNYSE:DELLBullBearInsights DELL closed Friday at $456.24 after pulling back from the $475 area. The daily chart still has a bullish structure, but the stock is sitting in the middle of a wide range going into Tuesday’s earnings. The larger trend has been strong. DELL ran from below $200 in April to a record high around $514. That kind of move creates high expectations, and earnings will need to be more than simply “good” to push the stock back through its high. The first daily level I am watching is $462–$465. DELL needs to reclaim that area before buyers can make another run at $475. Above $475, the next resistance is $485, followed by $500 and the record high at $514. The daily RSI is around 55, almost even with its signal line. Momentum is still slightly positive, but there is no strong advantage on either side. The chart is not overbought, and it is not showing a confirmed breakout yet. The nearest daily support is around $440–$430. That area has been tested several times during August and continues to attract buyers. A daily close below $430 would weaken the current structure and bring $420–$400 into play. The larger support on my chart is around $375. I do not expect that level to be reached without a major earnings disappointment, but it remains important if DELL loses $400. 15-minute chart Friday’s intraday action was much weaker than the daily candle initially suggests. DELL traded up to $474.74, failed inside the $473–$478 resistance zone and then sold off to $452.90. It spent the final part of the session building a small base between approximately $454 and $457. The 15-minute RSI has recovered from oversold and is now around 42. That gives the stock a chance to bounce Monday, but momentum remains below the centerline. The first level buyers need to recover is $458–$459. A 15-minute close above $459, followed by a successful retest, would give DELL room to move toward $462–$463. Above that, I would watch $466, $470 and $472.25. The larger resistance remains $474.75–$478. That area rejected the stock twice and will probably require stronger volume to break. On the downside, $452.90 is the immediate support. A break below it would put $450 and $447.50 in play. If selling increases, the next meaningful area is around $440–$435. I do not want to chase DELL while it is trading between $453 and $459. That is the current intraday decision zone, and it can easily trap both sides. GEX map DELL’s gamma map is much wider than AVGO’s, which makes sense with earnings coming Tuesday. Calls represent about 71% of the positioning. Implied volatility is also elevated, with IV rank close to 60. Option premiums are expensive, and the market is already expecting a large earnings move. The closest upside gamma level is $465. Above that, the map shows resistance around $485, followed by a very large call concentration at $500. The $500 level is the main call wall. It also lines up with the psychological level directly below DELL’s record high at $514. Below the current price, the nearest gamma support is $452.50. If that fails, the next concentrations are around $435 and $430. The high-volume level is near $425, followed by put positioning at $420. The strongest downside put wall is sitting around $400. This produces a broad earnings range between $400 and $500. It does not mean DELL will use the entire range, but it shows where the larger option positions are concentrated. Before earnings, $452.50 and $465 should matter most. After earnings, the important levels become $485–$500 on the upside and $430–$420 on the downside. The current positive gamma environment may keep price controlled before the report. Once earnings are released, that positioning can change quickly. I will refresh the map Wednesday morning rather than trade from levels that may already be outdated. My day-trading plan For a long trade, I want a 15-minute close above $459 and a retest that holds. My first targets would be $462.50, $465 and $470. If momentum continues, I would leave a smaller position for $472.25–$474.75. I would consider the long setup failed if DELL moves back below $456 after the breakout and cannot recover. For a short trade, I want to see DELL reject $458–$459 and break below $452.90. My first targets would be $450 and $447.50, followed by $440–$435 if selling becomes stronger. I would consider the short setup failed if price recovers above $456–$458 and holds. Monday may offer normal intraday setups. Tuesday is different because earnings come after the closing bell. I would reduce my size and avoid opening short-dated options late in Tuesday’s session. With implied volatility already high, being correct about the direction may not be enough. The earnings move must also be large enough to overcome the premium and the volatility drop after the report. Long-term investment view DELL has become one of the main companies benefiting from AI server and data-center spending. That gives the company a better long-term story than its old reputation as mainly a personal-computer manufacturer. The problem is the stock has already priced in a lot of growth. For a new long-term position, I would not buy a full position before earnings. I would rather divide the investment into smaller parts and let the market show whether the current valuation can hold. The first long-term area I would watch is $430–$440. If earnings are strong and that area holds during the reaction, it could offer a better entry than chasing a gap. The next accumulation area would be $400–$420. That zone includes several major GEX levels and prior price support. It would also provide more room for the company to grow into its valuation. If DELL clears $500 and then breaks the $514 record high, the long-term trend could continue toward $535 and possibly $560. I would still prefer to wait for a retest rather than buy the first large earnings candle. A weekly close below $400 would change my long-term view. It would suggest the AI server growth story is no longer enough to support the current price structure. At that point, I would wait for the chart to stabilize closer to $375. For a long-term position, I prefer shares over short-dated options. DELL can remain volatile even when the company continues performing well. My main level for the week is $465. Above it, buyers can work toward $485 and $500. Below $452.50, the chart opens toward $435 and $430. Tuesday’s earnings will probably decide which side of that range gets tested first. This is my chart plan for the week, not a recommendation to buy or sell.
