I was paid $1700/month as a nanny working 40h/week back in 2012— and that was a low wage then! But the mom was faculty at my university, so we had the same breaks, and she didn’t mind the fact that I took the bus instead of having a car. It worked well for me at the time and I was willing to be paid less for the sake of my school schedule.
