Gemma Joe’s is officially making its return next week, and it’s kicking off its new chapter with a heartfelt gesture.After four months of rebuilding and preparing for its reopening, the popular dessert spot has announced that every single euro from its opening night on Wednesday 12th August will be donated to Puttinu Cares.And they mean every euro.“Not just the profits. Not what’s left over. Every cent of every sale,” the team shared in an emotional social media post.The charity event will take place from 7pm until 11pm at Gemma Joe’s usual location at Sliema Ferries, opposite the ferry terminal.Co-founder John-Paul explained that the initiative is deeply personal. During his teenage years, he spent three years under the care of The Children’s Hospital at Westmead in Sydney, Australia, an experience that inspired a lifelong desire to support children’s hospitals and organisations that help families through difficult times.“That’s why we chose Puttinu Cares here in Malta,” he wrote.Together with co-founder Steve, John-Paul said they hope Gemma Joe’s will be known not only for its desserts but also for the positive impact it can have within the community.Visitors can choose from the shop’s range of handmade ice cream, thick shakes, croffles, Hawaiian shaved ice, sundaes, affogatos, coffees and the signature Ice Cream Space Burger, with every purchase on opening night going directly towards supporting Puttinu Cares and the families it assists.Whether you’re a returning customer or planning your first visit, opening night promises to be about much more than dessert.
