Class VIII student dies after being administered injection by RMP in Khammam district - The HinduUpdated - August 10, 2026 07:12 pm IST - KHAMMAMA class VIII student of Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya (KGBV) at Konijerla died after allegedly being administered an injection by a rural medical practitioner (RMP) for fever at Baswapuram in Khammam district on Sunday.The deceased was identified as Hemasri, a resident of Baswapuram.According to sources, Hemasri fell ill after returning home from Bonalu celebrations in the village on Sunday evening. Her parents took her to a local RMP, identified as Sampath, for treatment. The RMP allegedly administered an injection to her following which she reportedly developed breathing difficulties.Her parents subsequently rushed her to a private hospital in Khammam, where doctors declared her brought dead.The incident triggered outrage among villagers who demanded stringent action against “unauthorised medical practitioners” operating in rural areas.Hemasri’s father lodged a complaint against the RMP at the Konijerla police station on Monday. The police registered a case and launched an investigation.
